I was honored to be invited to speak before URMC Palliative Care staff for their retreat days.  Speaking before medical professionals about my doula work (and what brought me into this workspace) was a wonderful experience, and it showed how everyone can benefit from open discussions on death, dying and living a fulfilling life in the here and now.

Regardless of age, or health status, ALL adults can benefit from an open discussion about their mortality.  You need not be in palliative/hospice care or be a caregiver to have these important discussions NOW.  You might even be surprised how inspired you are to live a better life going forward! (It's not as scary or intimidating as you might think.)

Current & upcoming workshops open to the public are posted here - requiring registration beforehand.

CONVERSATIONS WITH A DEATH DOULA - LIVING LIFE THROUGH DEATH
  - Far from morbid, this workshop aims to remove fear and inspire you to live your best life now. We engage in powerful, thought-provoking discussions on what end-of-life plans might look like if you had a short time to live. By reflecting on needs, wants, relationships, your hopes/dreams, we evaluate what takes priority and what can fall by the wayside. By embracing life and death, you may find yourself making changes to live a life full of purpose and meaning.

DEATH AND DESSERT WITH A HOSPICE DOULA
As Helen Keller said, "Life is short and unpredictable. Eat the dessert first."
In a relaxed setting with dessert provided, we open up and talk about a difficult subject - death and dying. Using a hospice conversational tool that breaks down fear with humour and grace, thought-provoking conversations can occur. Discussing end-of-life plans and wishes is a gift to everyone. Join me in starting the conversation. An entertaining evening is guaranteed.

SWEDISH DEATH CLEANING
Organizing a lifetime of clutter now can save your loved ones from a daunting job later on. The primary goal is to not leave a massive clean up for others to sort through when you die. Suitable for any age, this class will inspire you to "let go" by discussing why we hold on to items and will provide tips to scale back and not attach happiness to "stuff" so you can focus on the more meaningful aspects of life.

" To imagine that at the time of our dying we will have the

physical strength, emotional stability, and mental clarity to do the

work of a lifetime is a ridiculous gamble."
                              - Frank Ostaseki
